Home Based Business Success Tip

Home Based Business Success FactorsIf you have ever tried starting and running your own home based business then you probably already know that a great majority of them fail. Generally, these businesses fail within the first year and sometimes even sooner. The funny thing is, the home based businesses that do succeed, are usually very successful and the owners make much more than they did as employees. So the question becomes, How do the successful entrepreneurs do it? Why are they the minority?

The answer is pretty simple really. No matter what kind of homebased business you start it is going to require you to sell something. It could be a product, a service, or even just yourself, but the fact remains that sales will drive your success. Do you enjoy selling? Do you know how to sell? If you are like the average person the answer to those questions are no. As a matter of fact, you could probably do a simple street survey and ask each person that walks by if they like to sell and I would venture a guess that 90% of them will tell you no. The point I am trying to make here is that this is quite natural, and there is absolutely no reason for you to feel inadequate in any way, simply because you can’t or don’t want to sell yourself.

The important thing to consider is that EVERYBODY buys something. So, sales is not really something to be afraid of. you and I buy stuff all the time. If you are like me then we buy lots of stuff. Each and every item that we purchase requires a sales transaction of some sort. Now if you recently purchased cable TV service, you had to interact with a professional sales person. Did you dislike the cable TV representative? Of course not! The cable TV representative had a valuable service that you were willing and able to purchase. That is one of the reasons your transaction went so smoothly. But there is more to it than that.

It is not a coincidence that the cable TV sales representative made you feel good about your decision to purchase. The most successful sales people and sales organizations spend lots of time and money on self improvement, because they know that their personal development is directly proportionate to their sales success. Just ask any highly successful sales professional what or who they turn to for personal development, imitate them, and you will have opened your mind to an entire new way of thinking. Make it a routine to take in personal development material on a daily basis, apply it to your home based business. The odds are that you will join the elite minority that succeed in their home based business venture.

Hopefully by now I have convinced you that selling is OK. I am sure that now you feel like becoming a professional sales person, right? OK, well maybe I haven’t quite convinced you of that. However, you can do the next best thing. The next best thing is simple: Hire your own professional sales staff. (light bulb moment!!)

I would venture a guess that you’re thinking “Wow, that’s a great idea,” and you would be right. This is what is known as leverage. Leverage in business simply means, that you get someone or something else to duplicate your efforts. Take your cable TV provider for example. The board of directors is smart enough to hire talented sales people to speak with potential customers. They feel great about the business, passionate about their products, but they still hire professionals to close the sales.

So there you have the secret to your success in your home based business is to hire people who can sell your product and/or service. This is a very simple formula for success in a home based business. This concept has worked in every business that has ever been started, and there’s absolutely no reason that it can’t work for you.

  1. I must say that your article opened my eyes a little bit wider than I had expected and gave me some serious food for thought. I think most people who run their own business, especially one that they have put their heart and soul into, have a hard time stepping back and letting other people help. Affiliate marketing is something that I have considered but not pursued, that is about to change!

  2. I have to agree that self development is an important part of maintaining a successful business. Just a change from a negative to a positive attitude can make all the difference in the world and it’s much easier to remain positive if you spend some time on self improvement.

  3. I agree that folks should really consider professional sales folks to market thier business. It just makes things so much easier for both yourself and your bottom line.

During your visit to this blog, you may notice that I occasionally promote, endorse, or suggest products and/or services for sale. In some cases, I will be compensated if you decide to purchase that product based on my recommendation. In some cases, I will receive the product for free for review purposes. Always use due-diligence before making any purchases and never purchase anything that you cannot afford. Most people don’t do anything with the products they buy, so most of the time, their typical results are zero.
