Nice article. My list would only be two of the three right now, though – I don’t build a list. Down the road, that’s my plan but right now I just concentrate on having a good product and driving traffic to my site.

I agree with you on your three list of the major things to remember when doing business online. Inline with making an offer you cannot refuse is to choose a very good niche for your business. Simple things that can add traffic is to make good contents in your site and be interactive with your sites visitors like answering them through comments.

I always thought that simplicity is, indeed, the key in order to truly succeed.

When it comes to Internet businesses, it’s really hard these days to find that “gold mine” and make it a success. It’s not enough to only have an idea, you have to realize it and it takes a lot of work.

As you say, traffic is really important. If you manage you make a great website that has a following and a nice community, the money should come fairly easy. And once that happens, all that hard work pays off.

I remember vividly that feeling of being overwhelmed. One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was to prepare a to-do list at the end of each day, things that I want to accomplish the next day. As long as I keep it reasonable, I find that it keeps me focused and I accomplish far more in the same amount of time. It also helps to close my email program while I’m working, far less distractions!

Great article! I agree that one of the most important thing is indeed to keep things simple – and foremost – to not lose sight of the objective. Yes, what should be obvious but still often goes confused and forgotten in the process is to keep focusing on the business objective: what is the product/solution and what is the target audience!? These are the 2 most important aspects any business owner should keep his sight on as this should shape any resulting plan – this will affect what you want/need to communicate and how – and eventually where. Try to keep this as visual as possible – a simple piece of paper will do: write down your mission statement -and keep it clearly visible in your office, so you can never lose sight of it…

You have some very informative points. One thing that I was dead against was list marketing, I did not understand the entire concept when it was briefly introduced to me over two years ago. Today it is a bit different, after doing more research, concentrating on one marketing idea at a time, I have implemented a list building component with great success. A list is power and knowledge, I just wish I had not been so stuborn when I first started out. Lesson learned I guess.
