Can You Make Money With A Blog

Make Money With Your BlogI have seen, and I am sure you have too, many products about blogging on the market. Some of them are good, some of them are not and almost all of them promise you the sky if you will just start blogging. If you have noticed there are thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of blogs online and how many of them do you think actually make money? If you expect your blog to make any money for you then you are going to have to put some real work into it. The good thing is, that it can be done.

The first thing you are going to need is content, and lots of it. After all what is a blog without great content? However, content alone is not going to make you any money. You should be prepared to add content to your blog at least 3 times a week and I will tell you right up front, it’s not always fun, it’s not always creative and it’s not always good, but it must be done if you are going to have any chance at all to make money with your blog.

One of the big decisions you will have to make is how you are going to monetize your blog. Will you use adsense? Do you have your own products? Will you be sprinkling in affiliate links? These are questions that need to be answered. If you take note of this blog you will see that I don’t have any Adsense ads anywhere. I do have some product reviews, some products and some affiliate links throughout my blog. These are some of the ways I have chosen to monetize (or not monetize) my blog.

For me, this blog is really an experiment. In the past I have not made much money, actually I have not even attempted to make money in the Internet Marketing niche. I use all the knowledge I have and many of the techniques I have learned to make money in other niches. I also make a pretty good living by consulting with small businesses and teaching them how to market themselves online or in many cases they just pay me to do it for them.

I created this blog as a challenge to myself and as a way to help others as well. I wanted to see if I could compete in the Internet Marketing niche. My goal was (and is) to approach it differently than many who have come before me. I want to provide my readers with valuable information that they can use to use to make money for themselves.

The monetization methods I have chosen to use in this blog are affiliate links in articles and reviews. I do not go crazy with them but they are there. There are also video products, short reports, and miscellaneous products that I think are valuable to the online marketer. Last but not least I off up several free reports that give plenty of valuable information and have affiliate links sprinkled throughout. So if you are benefiting from this blog and learning how to become better marketers please feel free to use my affiliate links or purchase any of the products I promote. They are all valuable and you will benefit from them.

Now I have shown you what I am doing on this blog to make a few dollars. Take these ideas and use them on your blog or come up with other ways that can provide you revenue. Just, remember, there are very few blogs that make enough money to allow their owners to retire, but if you work hard, and provide your readers good, quality content, you can make a few bucks.

What about you, do you have any monetization ideas that you use on your own blog? Do you have any ideas that can help others to achieve success in their blogs? Give us your comments below.

  1. Thanks for sharing this. And I think you’re heading to the right direction. Your blog is nice, you’re using WP (helps a lot for ranking) and do some experiments ,that’s the best way to do.
IMHO, an Internet Marketing winner is Shoe Money.
    Good luck with your blog!

  2. Hi Rick. Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Indeed, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! There is no logical reason a blogger would easily make a fortune (or even a decent living) simply by posting… You need dedication, time and perseverance. I would also suggest to blog on something you know: it will then be easier to find an interesting topic for that post you need to write today…

Keep in touch with your readers, engage in the conversation and discuss their opinions.
Talking about monetization, I think affiliates are a better way to make money than AdSense. Less intrusive, more control over what you are offering and, above all, more useful for your readers!
