Niche Marketing Short Course – Part 4

Create An Information Product

How To Create Information Products Fast And Cheap

Now we get down to the nitty-gritty. Creating an information product. This step has stopped many a would be marketer dead in their tracks. There really isn’t anything to worry about or to be intimidated by. Creating your own information product is really very easy and I am going to tell you 3 ways to get it done.

The absolute easiest way to create an information product is to have someone else do it. Yes, it will cost you a little money but it will be money well spent especially if you are not a writer. There is much that needs to be done to create a good information product and rather than do the research, writing, proof-reading, editing, etc. it is much easier and cost effective to pay someone else to do it. There are several sites that you can visit and find a ghostwrite that can create your product for you. I have listed a few below that you can check out.

When using a freelance site like the ones above there are a few things you want to do:

  1. When describing the job (book, report, articles, etc.) give as much detail as possible. The more detail you give the better your bidders will understand the project and give you accurate bids. You will have help ensure that the final product is one you will happy with.
  2. Always ask for writing samples. If the writer can’t or won’t give you samples don’t use them.
  3. Freelance sites have a rating system for all freelancers. Take this rating with a grain of salt. There could easily be problems that are never disclosed because it was worked out between the vendor and the freelancer. The higher the rating the better but it is not a guarantee.
  4. Never release payment until you have completely reviewed the final document and are totally happy with. Don’t pay for drafts, pay only for the final document. Then there is no chance that you will be made to wait for edits, or re-writes.

A second way to create your information product (if you aren’t afraid to do a little writing) is to purchase what is known as “Private Label Rights” (PLR) material and either rewrite the whole thing, add more information to it, or combine it with other PLR information. I have written several articles on using private label rights material to create your own unique information product. You can read them using the links below.

The third way and final way we will cover is to create an information product by using information in the public domain. There are many people who have made a lot of money by simply selling something that has already been written and no longer has copyright protection.

There are a couple ways to determine if material is in the Public Domain. The first one is easy. If the book was published in the U.S. prior to 1923 it is considered to be in the Public Domain. This simply means that no one owns the copyright and you can use it freely.

A second way to to determine more recent Public Domain material is if the book was published between 1923 and 1963. These books could be in the Public Domain if the copyright was not renewed before the 28th year. (the copyright office has published that around 90% of book copyrights are not renewed).

You should be aware that copyright laws can be modified by court rulings and you are advised to always consult a copyright attorney before publishing any work you find.

There is one expert on Public Domain that I look to when seeking this kind of information or help in this area and his name is Tony Laidig. He teaches and trains “newbies” and experienced marketers how to find and use content from the Public Domain to create successful, hybrid products for nearly any niche you can think of. Below are a couple of his sites which will provide you with much more information than I can.
