Multiple Ways To Package Content And Make More Money
When it comes to making money with your content, the actual creation of the product is only half the battle. Once you have found your niche and created the content you must package that content into a product of some kind. Many people opt for the e-book (which is a great way to start) but there is more than one way to skin a cat and more than one way to make money with your product.
Physical Products
If you have been on anyone’s list lately you have undoubtedly heard of continuity marketing. The biggest launches in this area are teaching you to create a squeeze page and offer your prospects a CD/DVD with the valuable information they are seeking. This is one type of physical product. Other types might include a “home study course” which can be sold for a lot more than your ebook or videos alone. The biggest downside to physical products is the production and distribution. However, since the price point is much higher in most cases, you can usually still make plenty of profit.
Ebooks
Ebooks are probably the most common way to package content. They are generally in the 30 – 200 page range depending upon the subject matter. They allow you to delve deep into a topic and provide your readers with plenty of information. Ebooks are a great way to begin because you can create them yourself and your customer has the instant gratification of receiving their ebook as a download immediately after payment has been made. One big advantage of the ebook is that you write it once and sell it many times without needing to pay for production or distribution.
Video
If you are handy with a simply flip cam you can easily create a video or slide show concerning the information you have gathered. Video is certainly one of the hottest commodities there is in online marketing right now.
Podcasts
Depending upon how (or if) you created a video of your product you could strip out everything except the audio and create a podcast. The audio, video or both could be combined with your ebook to create a higher priced item.
Short Reports
Short reports are much smaller than ebooks. Generally they range from 5 to 20 pages. A good small report will immediately go into some depth on a small part of a bigger topic which is different than many ebooks which simply give you a general overview. Small reports are a great way to make many small sales and as you continue to write on specific topics of a subject you will eventually have enough small reports that can be combined to create an ebook. Small Reports Fortune is the absolute best information I have ever read on the topic of creating small reports.
This is one of the best business models there is, in my opinion. You simply start small and build something bigger. It’s easy and profitable. Last but not least you are establishing yourself as an authority on the subject matter.
Membership Sites
If you already have a lot of information on a specific niche or you have the means of consistently producing valuable content in that niche then a membership site might be a good option for you. The biggest benefit of a membership site is the recurring income that is produced. There are several types of membership sites that you could create. Some will require more work than other and some you can even run on autopilot. You can actually start a membership site and be taking orders in less than 48 hours and only have to write one article. Visit Membership Sites to learn how.
So, when you begin to create your first piece of information on a subject, give your distribution method a little thought and decide how you can best profit from the content being created. Check out what others are offering and see if you can package yours differently or better for more money. Remember, product creation is only half the battle. The other half is selling your information and there are many ways that can be done.
