What Every Internet Marketer Should Know, But Doesn’t!

clueWe, as internet marketers, wear a lot of hats, especially when we are starting out. There are a lot of things to learn like, squeeze pages, sales pages, autoresponders, psychology, trigger points, html, css, php, thank you pages, ftp, article marketing, forum marketing, persuasion techniques, joint ventures, graphics, and the list goes on and on. Many would be information/internet marketers have to do it all themselves when starting out because they don’t have the money to outsource the work required. This is another reason that so few ever make any money at it. They get burned out trying to do everything themselves and give up before achieving any kind of success.

If you are just starting out or even if you have been marketing for a while there are two things that I believe you must know how to do or figure out a way to outsource the jobs. Those two things are: Direct Response Marketing and Copywriting.

Why do I say this? Well, I read a lot of material and try to keep up on what’s going on that could affect my business. Right now the internet is still very wide open but there are those (governments especially) who would like to regulate it. If this happens, strike that. When this happens, marketing online will change as we now know it. Already, the FTC is beginning to flex it’s muscle on sales sites and/or pages concerning things like testimonials. Although I fully believe and expect that a testimonial should be authentic and true, I would be foolish to believe that every one I see online is.

There have been regulations pushed on every inexpensive media that has come along in the last 100 years which totally changed the way that marketers used that media. The internet will be no different. As time goes on you will begin to see more and more government intervention. This will take place on local, regional, and global levels. You only have to look to the past to reveal the future.

The regulations, rules and laws that will eventually come down the pike will make it much more difficult on Internet marketers. You will find it much more difficult to make money online when this happens. That is of course unless you are well versed in direct response marketing and copywriting.

Think of your business like a finely tuned basketball team. Everyday they go to practice and what do they do? They work on the basics, day in and day out. They work on them until they become second nature. They then work on the plays, over and over until they become second nature as well. The teams who master the basics and the plays in the playbook are the teams that win consistently on their court or their opponent’s.

So when it comes to your business, consider direct response marketing as the basics. Direct response marketing has always worked and always will work as long as you practice it. What is most important to understand is that direct response marketing works in ANY media.

Take copywriting and make it your playbook. In your playbook you have 2 basic plays and a number ways to run them. The two basic plays are: Pain and Pleasure.

All sales can be boiled down to easing pain or providing pleasure and the best copywriters make their copy address one of these two reasons.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying we should quit using the Internet as our main marketing medium. What I am saying, is that you should not make it your sole source of marketing. There are still many viable mediums available that will work wonderfully in conjunction with your online marketing campaigns.

The internet is by far the best media that has ever surfaced for marketers. You can reach millions of people at the push of a button. You can make money in minutes if you have a list and an autoresponder. But you must realize, this thing called the internet is only one source, one media outlet. Currently, it is by far the best and most inexpensive, but I guarantee that will eventually change. When it does you need to know how to use other media outlets if you expect your business to survive.

Direct response marketing and copywriting work in any and every media and will always allow you to make a living no matter what happens to your media of choice.

Direct response is good because it promotes interaction between the consumer and the business, while copywriting is beneficial for the business’ financial growth.

During your visit to this blog, you may notice that I occasionally promote, endorse, or suggest products and/or services for sale. In some cases, I will be compensated if you decide to purchase that product based on my recommendation. In some cases, I will receive the product for free for review purposes. Always use due-diligence before making any purchases and never purchase anything that you cannot afford. Most people don’t do anything with the products they buy, so most of the time, their typical results are zero.
