Email Marketing With Newsletters

Email Marketing With NewslettersNewsletters can be used to build relations, create sales, supply information and a host of other things for both online and offline customers. One of the inherent issues that is associated with a newsletter is the need for content. The closer you come to the deadlines the more critical this need becomes. So how do you address this? Below you will find numerous ways that will help you to always have content ready for your newsletter. As a matter of fact you can use the tips and techniques below for your blog, website, emails or any other communication that requires a steady flow of information.

1. Create A Content Folder
This is one of the easiest ways to keep content ready for your newsletter or e-zine. Simply create a folder on your hard drive and place articles, PLR material, ideas, topics, etc. Whenever you are reading, surfing, or even shopping keep your newsletter in mind. Anything you see, hear or read could be content in your future issues.

If we lived in a perfect world you would train everyone who works for you or with you do keep the newsletter in mind during their day, so that even more content ideas can be added. Listen to what your customers say and ask. Use that information to produce content for your newsletter.

Then when deadlines draws near you won’t always have the burden of creativity when it comes to writing the next issue.

2. Use Your Analytics Wisely
Most 3rd party mailing services offer some kind of analytics for things like open rates, and links that were clicked. This information can be very useful in helping you learn about what interests your readers have.

Don’t just concentrate on your email statistics. Look at the logs from your website as well. Where are your visitors going. What articles or content is the most popular? Check your search results using Google’s webmaster tool. This will help you to see what people are searching on when finding your site.

If you have an on-site search function, look to see what are people searching your site for. These are all ways to learn what your visitors want to know more about and gives you an idea as to what kind of content to add at a later date.

3. Sign-up For Your Competitors’ Newsletters, E-Zines, Or Email
What is your competition doing? Spy on them legally by simply subscribing to their communications and gain even more valuable insight and ideas that you can use to build better relations with your readership.

4. Meet Your Readers Where They Are
You should have an idea why people are signed up for your newsletter, so use that information and go to places like forums, discussion lists, social networking sites, chatrooms, media sites, blogs etc. and any other online communities that are relevant to the topics you cover. Look at the sites and see what topics are generating a lot of interest and use that knowledge to produce content your own publication.

Take every opportunity to meet and interact with your readers and potential readers. By doing this youw ill begin to understand their needs and interests. Then you can plan content that addresses both.

4. Partnerships
A great way to ease the burden of content creation is to partner with other newsletter, e-zine publishers or businesses that are not directly competing with you. By partnering with others you can share content with each other. In other words, if you owned a web hosting company you could partner with a company that does search engine optimization quite easily. It happens all the time, if you take the time to look.

Go to a site like Orbitz or Travelocity and you will see deals on airline travel, rent-a-cars, hotels, entertainment, etc., all helping each other sell their respective services. This is a powerful technique that many publishers fail to utilize.

5. Go Green
You don’t always have to write new content just for your newsletter. Depending upon your business you may be able to recycle content from other parts of your business, especially if your newsletter readers haven’t seen the material before.

5. Ask And You Shall Receive
Encourage your readers to tell you what they want to see. Take surveys, ask them to respond on your website, blog or emails. No matter what you do seek out the information that will help you to give your readers what they want.

6. Shorten It Up or Lengthen It Out
If, after all the tips you received above you are still struggling from issue-to-issue then consider the size of your publication and the frequency in which you send it. If you have to you can shorten the content and/or lengthen the time in between mailings, then do it. You don’t want to publish just for the sake of publishing. If you are not providing your readers engaging and relevant material you are going to lose them anyway.

Hopefully these tips have helped you to realize that there are many ways to obtain content for your newsletter, e-zine, website, or blog. It only takes a little organization and effort on the front end.
