WP Smart Tools – How Smart Are They?
Recently I was able to test a whole suite of WordPress Plugins from WP Smart Tools. The company claims that by using these plugins, your conversion rate will increase, you will speed up landing page development, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all your campaigns.
There are a total of 6 plugins in the suite. They can be purchased separately or as a package. The plugins are as follows:

1 Click Date Options
WP Smart Date – This plugin will allow you to add a date anywhere in a WordPress post or page but that’s just it’s basic function. There are several features of this plugin that make it almost indispensable for marketers. You can publish dates in almost any format you desire with just one click.

Imagine the things that you could do with a plugin that has this kind of versatility. You can use it for product launches, to create a sense of urgency, updated posts (check the end of this article for the fictitious updated date – you should notice it’s a week behind) or any other date related information.
The BEST EBOOK EVER is coming on February 15th, 2010 — Just add your name in the box to the right.
We’re sorry this offer expired February 1, 2010, 12:00 am, add your name to the box on the right to be placed on the waiting list for the next opening.
Don’t wait, this offer expires 09/02/2010 at 12:00AM — and this offer will never be made again!
- Link Saver – This is probably my favorite plugin in the group. There really isn’t much to say about it other than it is as easy as it gets and works perfectly. Not only that but if you are in the internet marketing niche you will appreciate the beauty of the link URL. Most links you see look something like:http://homebasedbusinessadviser.com/recommends/LinkSaver
As marketers we all know this is an affiliate link. With Link Saver your link will look like this:
http://homebasedbusinessadviser.com/LinkSaverIn my opinion is a MUCH nicer option an looks more natural. With ths plugin your affiliate links now look like any other link.
- Smart Location – This plugin is is pretty darn cool. It allows you to place your prospect/customer’s location anywhere on a page or a post. You can specify city, province, country, currency code and currency symbol. So right now I can tell you that you are from:
in the United States in
Your country code is: US
Your currency code is: USD
Your currency symbol is: $
You longitude is: -97 and your latitude is: 38All of these geo-targeted locations are produced on the fly without any intervention needed from you.
- Smart Tracking – This plugin gives you the ability to add any kind of tracking code to your pages or posts. Besides the basic tracking functions that are available you could use this plugin for integration with things like Google Analytics’ “Goals.” You would do this by using custom fields on your edit post page. This plugin works with Tracking202, Clickheat, and any other tracking application. As a matter of fact the company says that you can integrate your WordPress blog with any tracking software or your money back!
- Lead Saver – Statistics show that exit pops work. If you want to be successful in your information marketing business then you need one. I don’t believe that I have ever come across a blog that had an exit pop but I can certainly think of reasons why you would want one. With this plugin you can specify a message box (which can’t be blocked) or a popup screen that you can created with all the graphic elements you want.Try to leave this page and see the message box that pops up!
Smart Widgets – This is probably my second favorite plugin of the bunch. It brings a lot of functionality that was previously unavailable. If you look to the right, under my twitter bird, you will see my photo and an introduction. This is just one of the features of this plugin. Other features include adding a countdown ticker that counts down from a hard set date or you can countdown second-by-second on the fly. You can place any WordPress post into your sidebar and last but not least you can place a box that shows the payment methods you accept. All in all a handy little plugin.
OK, so here’s the good and the bad as I see it.
The Good:
The plugins are well written and very easy to install. Most of the plugins are set up using 1 click and you’re done. When inserting the short code you need only put your cursor where you want the code inserted and click to set your insertion point, then click the insert button for the correct plugin and it will place the code right there for you. Each plugin has complete documentation and the support is excellent. As I tested and evaluated each plugin I came across a couple of issues. Joe, the lead programmer was quick to answer and fix the issues. Customer service like that is rare these days.
If you use a WordPress blog to do any kind of selling almost all of these tools will be beneficial to you. Even if you can find simliar plugins elsewhere these have more functionality than others I have seen. Two of the plugins (Countdown and Lead Saver) I have never seen on any other blog I have come across.
I think that one of the best features about the whole package is that you can now easily create a professional landing page using WordPress and many people would never know it.
They also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase for any reason, just contact them within 30 days of purchase and they will refund your purchase with no questions asked.
The Bad:
When using the Smart Location plugin you have to manually enter the longitude and latitude short code. Everything else is included in the dropdown so I am unsure why this one has to be done manually. I was also unable to get the “continent” feature to work correctly and the insertion point did not work correctly for the geo tracking. I had to copy and paste it where I wanted it.
In the Smart Widgets plugin it is a bit clunky when adding text to the countdown function. It is a text box that is only about 20 characters long and you must enter all your html code and text in this box. So it requires a bit of going back and forth to see everything you entered.
The one thing I would like to see offered is the ability to pick and choose only the plugins you want. Right now you pretty much have to buy them all or buy them one at a time. Maybe there could be a small package deal that allows you to choose only what you want.
Another option I think would be very beneficial would be to add a basic boolean expression function to the Smart Location plugin. This would allow for targeting specific markets with specific offers.
In my opinion these plugins are so feature packed that you can’t go wrong. I am and will continue to use these on my own blog. They are some of the best and most useful marketing plugins I have come across.
