Internet Marketing Strategy – Scarcity
Scarcity is a tactic this is very powerful and always works to some extent. It basically tells your prospects that there is a limited number of the product available and if they don’t purchase soon they will miss out on the product, service, membership or whatever it is that you are are selling. This is a similar tactic to the “lock it in now” strategy.
When people know that there is only a finite number available it pushes them to make a decision. They fear not being able to get that product later. This internet marketing strategy is used in every kind of business, online and offline.
An example might be a membership site. You state in your sales letter that there are only 100 memberships available. Once you reach that number there will be no more members accepted. Not only does this put fear in your prospect that they will miss out on the membership, it also puts pressure on them to act quickly. There is no guarantee how fast the memberships will sell out.
Be careful to follow through on your statements because if you don’t you will lose the trust of your prospect or customer. If you are only selling 100 memberships, make sure and only sell 100 memberships. Because, if the word gets out you sold more than 100 memberships people won’t trust you and they will be less likely to buy from you in the future.
