Copy Your Way To Internet Marketing Success
As I began working online I made a lot of mistakes! One of the biggest mistakes I made was going from one new product to the next. I have talked about this sickness in previous articles. However, in those years of floundering and trying to figure out how this information marketing business actually worked, I ended up with tons of quality material from some of the most knowledgeable people in the business.
One day, I finally got tired of spending money and decided to actually use the material I had purchased and make some money. I took the time to go back through the material I had acquired, some of which was very “high quality” and made the time to read them and put the information into action. After all was said and done I finally figured out that the best way to succeed was to copy those who were actually successful. Guess what, it worked!!
So I have outlined some of what I believe are important aspects to copy so you can piggyback off the success of someone else and become successful yourself.
Website Design
When it comes to building a successful website you don’t need a flashy site that’s loaded with spinning graphics and automatic music. If you look at some of the most successful web sites online today they have one thing in common, they have sleek, simple designs.
As you begin to research web sites to model yours after, ensure that you copy the right kind of website. In other words, if you sell one specific kind of product, let’s say something like marbles, then you wouldn’t model your site after a full blown e-commerce site like Amazon. Why? Because Amazon sells thousands of products, in hundreds of categories and you don’t.
So search for a successful web site that is employing the same type of business model as you. A site that is selling one similar kind of product. One that you can see how they are selling their product (sales copy), how they are driving traffic to their site and how are they building their prospect/customer list.
Sales Copy
Writing sales copy is probably the most difficult task for most of us to learn and chances are you can’t afford to hire a good copy writer. So here is my best advice to get a high quality sales letter.
I would venture a guess that you are on several “lists” and get plenty of email on the next big product launch. If these launches are from credible and successful marketers then go to their sales letter and copy it. It’s that simple.
Don’t copy it word for word but look at how it is put together. You will most likely see they have numerous bullet points, they have testimonials, they have loads of benefits for the product they are selling and they may even have some stories of how it has been used successfully.
One of the best ways to determine if it is a good sales letter is if it makes you want to buy the product. If you want to buy the product then others probably do as well and you can use that to your advantage.
Targeted Traffic
If you want to succeed in this business they you must get targeted traffic to come to your site and buy your product/offer.
Take a look at your competitors and see how they are driving traffic. Check to see if they are advertising on other sites, do they have an affiliate program, are they on specific niche forums providing information and signature links. Investigate what they are doing to drive traffic to their site and copy it.
Use the success and experience of your competition to your advantage by learning their secrets. Then simply tweak and improve upon their approach!
Build Your List
You must begin immediately to build a prospect/customer list. As new people come to your site offer them something of value for their name and email address. Make sure that whatever you are offering is relevant and is of very high quality so you begin to build a reputation as a quality information provider.
This list is going to help make you money over and over and many times at will as long as you continue to provide valuable and relevant information to them. Do not ignore this task. List building is one of the most important things you can do for your success.
As you research sites to copy what are they giving away? Are they giving anything away? Watch their site, does what they are giving away change often? If so then they are testing, which is something you will want to do as well. If it is not changing then they are probably successful in building their list with information. So copy their success and do something similar.
Model your business after the success of others and you’ll not only guarantee your success, you’ll achieve your goals in less time with less expense than you would have otherwise.
Do you have any thoughts or ideas that have helped you? How did you begin to model your business? Do you copy your competitors? What are your success secrets?
