Direct mail can easily be used to drive traffic to your website, sell your products or services, inform people of an event, or just about anything else. They key is to target the right list. There was no hard sell, no selling at all actually, just a promise of good quality free information. No strings attached. All they had to do was to come to my website and opt-in to my email list. They were then sent a link via my autoresponder to download the information. Now everybody was happy, I gave them a quality report on how to use the internet as a marketing tool and I gained their email address to market to them further.
The reason I chose to do my lead generation via direct mail was because the businesses I was targeting were not online or they were not using the internet as a marketing medium. I was offering them a service that would help them in both these areas. The whole campaign was a great success and I gained many email addresses that I would never have been able to get otherwise. Not to mention I made a good amount of money selling internet marketing services to them.
